Multi-family/Community Wall-Connector Installations by RF- Electric LLC
Many communities without garages have traditionally found it challenging to adopt vehicle charging systems. A significant number of such communities have specific parking arrangements, with spaces often located a distance away from the respective units. Previously, options like running a charging cord from a home to a parking spot across sidewalks, or mounting chargers on posts were often met with resistance from Homeowners Associations (HOAs). This restricted residents to using public chargers or superchargers, which may not always be convenient.
WALL-CONNECTORS - IN DETACHED GARAGE
Most communities with garages are attached to the main building. However, some communities have detached garages, often about 25 feet from the unit. Some of these have the Main Service Panel in the basement, living room, or 2nd floor. All present a unique type of installation, and all require a trench between the main unit and the Detached garage. In all cases, the installation details, such as the color of the outside conduits, where they will be run, and where the trench will be located, must be discussed with the HOA for approval.
ASSIGNED PARKING - WALL-CONNECTORS, AT THE CURB
Communities without garages usually have an assigned parking spot. Many of these have this spot outside the front door across the walkway. If allowed by the HOA, a wall connector can be placed in the grass area between the sidewalk and the curb. The circuit for this is usually run from the basement to the front of the unit, then underground and under the sidewalk to the charger location.
ASSIGNED PARKING - EV RECEPTACLE, ON THE BUILDING
Some communities without garages and assigned parking will not allow a post-mount charger at the curb. However, these communities often allow a wall connector or EV receptacle to be located on the building by the front door. Since this requires residents to run the charging cable across the sidewalk, communities generally require some sort of cord cover or warning cones while charging.
